A group of 13 cottages in the lush countryside of Gloucestershire near the Forest Of Dean.

Each cottage has it's own kitchen, dinner, 3 piece leather sofa, full bathroom, bedroom/s, garden and some have a private garden.

THE COTTAGES:

To sleep a total of 56 adults and 21 infants.

Available for summer holidays from Monday 4pm the 3rd to Thursday 10am the 13th of August.

OTHER FACILITIES / AMMENITIES:

Laundry: There are two washing machines. There is also a tumble drier with ironing boards and drying racks.

The Paddock: To the left of the laundry, at the bottom of the courtyard is a five bar gate opening into the paddock. It is a grass area for the enjoyment of all our guests, for playing games, barbeques, picnicking etc.

Train: The nearest station is Lydney approximately 4 miles away from Forest of Dean Holiday Cottages. There is no taxi-rank at the station but taxis can be pre-booked e.g. K & T Taxis tel 01594 845913 / 07950 274720 or Taxicabs tel 01594 843456.

Bus: The nearest bus station is Lydney approximately 3 miles away from Forest of Dean Holiday Cottages. Buses from Lydney to Yorkley are very infrequent. There are no buses from the train station to Yorkley.

Shopping: Can be pre-ordered online from Tesco.com for delivery to your holiday cottage.

We have all our cottages apart from Squirrel Cottage, a one-bedroomed cottage at the back of the courtyard which an elderly couple have already booked for one week.

  • For the 13 cottages, the group price is £15'000. This includes all your gas and electricity; beds are made up ready for your arrival and towels are also provided.

We also have a sports hall and function room on site which you may wish to hire. Outside, we have The Paddock, a large grass area for playing games, picnics, barbecues etc. There is a playground for young children with playhouse, train etc. We are also right beside the forest, so there are lovely walks straight from our site.

 

We have an extra 3 smaller dormitories in the Barn, sleeping 6 each. They all have en-suite facilities and cost £115 per night. Bedding and towels are not provided with the dormitory accommodation, purely a bed with a mattress.

 

We can provide extra beds in the cottages. The charge for a single bed, made up with bedding and towels, is £15 per stay. We can also provide travel cots (no bedding or towels provided) and high chairs.

 

The nearest cycle hire centre is Dean Forest Cycles at Parkend, about 2 miles away. Their website is www.deanforestcycles.co.uk 

They will deliver bikes to here. From here there is only a short distance, less than a mile, to cycle on the road and then once you are on the forest cyclepaths you can get all over the forest - to Mallards Pike Lake, Cannop Lakes, to Coleford, Cinderford, Speech House and the Sculpture Trail etc.

Forest Of Dean, Walking & Cycling

Easy Access. There are routes at Mallards Pike Lake and the Cyril Hart Arboretum in the Forest of Dean which are suitable for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs. Symonds Yat Rock is also accessible from the carpark.

The ‘Twelve Easy Walks’ leaflet gives details of circular manageable strolls in the Forest of Dean.

Cycles can be hired from Dean Forest Cycles at Parkend, only 3 miles away from our Forest of Dean Holiday Cottages, also Pedalabikeaway in the Cannop Valley, and Forest Bikes & Outdoor Leisure at Coleford.

Alternatively, bring you own bikes. We have secure, undercover bike storage here at Deanwood Holiday Cottages, and also drying facilities and hanging space in the laundry for wet clothing.

As well as a good selection of leaflets in the holiday cottages, we also have a selection of maps and leaflets of special interest to the keen walker here in the office at Deanwood Holiday Cottages, including The Peregrine Path, Offa’s Dyke National Trail, Gloucestershire Way and the Wye Valley Walk. For the cyclist, we have several booklets and maps covering Cotswold villages, South Gloucester, Bristol etc as well as the Forest of Dean.

Most are available free of charge but some can be purchased or borrowed on deposit.

From sleepy market towns with their relaxed, time to help attitude, to prestigious cities packed with culture, world class attractions, superb shopping and stunning nightlife, there are many to chose from within an hour from Deanwood Holiday Cottages.

Yorkley 0.5 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Our local village has two mini supermarkets, a post ofice, two pubs which also serve meals and where dogs are welcome, hairdressers, Doctors’ surgery, primary school, and playingfield with skateboarding park.

Lydney  3 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. A small town supplying everything you need – three supermarkets, banks, good selection of restaurants and takeaways, leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, historic harbour, fishing lakes, golf course, outdoor lido, parks, doctors, dentist, hospital, vets, craft and garden centres, start of the Dean Valley Railway.

Chepstow 11 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Gateway to Wales. Start of 3 national trails – Offa’s Dyke Path, Wye Valley Walk and Gloucestershire Way; Chepstow Castle, Chepstow Race Course.

Monmouth 12 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Picturesque old town; kayaking & canoeing; river trips; Nelson Museum. Regimental Museum & Castle. Start of The Peregrine Path – a footpath and cycle path closely following the River Wye within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which links Monmouth and Symonds Yat.

Gloucester 20 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Cathedral City with historic docks. Rejuvenated Quayside, housing Designer Outlet centre, Antiques centre, Indoor climbing centre. Shopping city centre, Museums, Parks.

Cheltenham 27 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Best preserved Regency town in Britain. Excellent shopping, home to many top fashion and beauty boutiques. Sample the Spa Waters in the Pittville Pump Room. Start of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. Cheltenham Race Course. Playhouse Theatre.

Hereford 27 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Market town with weekly livestock and general markets. Hereford Cathedral and Mappa Mundi & Chained Library  Exhibition. Belmont Abbey. Cider Museum. Herefordshire Light Infantry Museum.

Tewkesbury 28 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. Cathedral town.

Bristol 30 miles from our Forest of Dean holiday cottages. UK’s first cycling city. Harbourside with stylish bars, cafes, galleries & museums, aquarium, interactive science centre with 300 hands on exhibits, ferry trips. Old City with cobbled streets, medieval churches, stalls, Theatre Royal. City Centre has the biggest and best choice of shops in the South West. Clifton Village, elegant leafy streets with designer stores and bijou cafes.
